Last days of summer...

The first Saturday of the school year, I find myself looking back at the last days of summer. It already seems like it was summer break more than a week ago.

The girls came to school with me a few times as I was getting things ready. And the best part of a kindergarten classroom is all the toys. :)

But there was still lots of time outside

We got a few appointments in before the year, including a check-up of Cam's ears at the ENT. It was not a perfect report - the left side didn't heal quite right, but for now, it's okay, and just something we will have to watch as she gets older.
Getting ready to go

Cuties reading in the waiting room.

The face of a little one who had to skip her nap.

Lunch outside. (My favorite because then I don't have to clean the floor afterward :))

Cam crushing some broccoli

Taylor reading books to Camryn - can't get enough of this

Sleepy face

And a few end of the summer thunderstorms... Camryn has developed a fear of thunder in the past few weeks
So we went from this...happy and smiling, eating a snack outside

To this...only wanting to be held close. That face... so sweet.

Taylor could care less and just wants to run in the rain. :)

And these were the best "first day of school" pictures we could get as we were quickly trying to get out the door! Crazy kids. :)
This one will probably end up at Taylor's high school graduation party. :)

Now that the school year has started, I am ready for fall!!

South Haven 2014

This past week my mom rented a house in South Haven - close to beach and downtown - a very cute little place! And anything near Lake Michigan is a good thing. :)

I had some back and forth between work meetings and my school Open House, but the girls got to stay all week long with Mem! Jeff, Jen, and Tess even got to be there the first night.

First night there, we just had to venture to the beach. It seems like through the whole week, we got to see more clouds than sun, but it was still a gorgeous place to be.

And smores were required, too.

Waking up the first morning - Taylor, Tess, and Cam. Three cute little cousins.

Back to the beach

And during the week when I couldn't be there, Mem sent me pictures of what the girl's were up to...

Checking out the lighthouse - they got to peek inside!

Making forts

Late dinner in PJ's :)

One amazing thing about the girl's stay at the house was that they both slept GREAT, and Taylor broke of her habit (so far) of having to have one of us stay with her until she fell asleep. She laid down, we kissed her goodnight, and walked back downstairs. Each girl had their own bed in the loft area upstairs.

I still laid down with this one a few times during her afternoon nap - mostly because I napped with her. :)
Other random moments....
Breakfast out - Cam wanted to wear her sunglasses

Dinner out at Clementine's

Cam with her crayons - she has such good pencil grip already!

Ice cream with the girls - sharing one cone

Cam walking downtown - she is always carrying her backpack with her now. Big kid. :)

Taylor helping me get some treat bags ready for my Open House night.

Taylor also asked me to draw a picture of summer - and then she colored it. We took it to my classroom and hung it up. A little reminder of summer when I am working next week.

Bubbles with Mem

Riding back from the beach - Cam was a tired little girl.

The girls ate up at the table for most of their meals.

Snack on the porch

And one last time walking to the beach

It was a fun week for us, and especially for the girls to get some much time with their Mem! It was a good last week of summer!
