A few Saturday scenes

Sam's Club on a Saturday....and Taylor found what she wanted to buy :o)

This girl loves her books...she was looking at books more than anything else the whole day today! (And this was an amazing moment as well because just a few months ago, looking at a book would have guaranteed that she would get sick in the car...because she was getting sick almost every time we were in the car longer than 5 minutes...but she seems to have moved past that stage and we are so thankful!)

Sister talk

Playing at the park

Camryn was all snuggled in the Ergo with me

It certainly feels like fall now! :o)

Letters and Sounds

This week I have been working on assessing letters and sounds in my classroom, and Taylor happened to see some of my assessment sheets that I brought home and was eager to give it a try. I cut down the video a bit so it wasn't so long, but with the exception of one letter and one letter sound, she got them all! It is so much fun to see her start to grasp these concepts, and I can't wait to teach her to read someday soon. :o)

(**side note: she likes to say "no, that's a ___" for the letters because sometimes when she says the wrong letter I will say that when correcting her...so now she has picked up saying it, too :o))

Love coming home after a longer day and having moments like this to look forward to. :o)

Moments

There are so many moments I don't want to forget! Sometimes there isn't one specific purpose to a post, it is just a collection of events and thoughts that I want to remember. This is one of those posts. :)

1. Labor Day
We were up north, there was lots of sun, fun outside, and Camryn felt miserable for good part of it. It was our last summer weekend of fun before the break was over.
We got to see the "blue moon" on our way up while we were stopped at a gas station. Taylor didn't want to get back in the car, she just wanted to look at the MOON! :)

The ladies hanging on the porch...

Splashing in the water

Hanging out with dada

2. Lil' Stinker
Taylor refused to take a nap one day, yet later that afternoon, this was how she was camped out while I was putting away laundry... :)

3. We started a bit of potty training at the end of break, but we're going to hit the pause button on that one for a while... she did look awful cute in her little undies, though :)

4. Sisters
I have a feeling these two are going to have a LOT of fun growing up together, and I also am getting the sense that it is going to be quite the learning curve for Taylor to learn how to SHARE with her little sister - if Camryn happens to get her hands on one of Tay's toys, Taylor is pretty quick to grab it and say "NO, Camryn!"

4. Taylor and I tend to feel the same way after a full day of school or daycare - tired!

5. Camryn has been cashing out early in the evening, so Taylor and I have had a little bit of one-on-one play time each day. One of her favorite games right now is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse "Memory"(we just keep all the cards turned over at this point and use it as a matching game).

6. Last Sunday, Ryan took Taylor to his office to pick up my new "Lively" chair (yay!) - and she was completely in love with the fountains out front! This girl loves water.

7. Had a pretty cool recognition ceremony at my high school last weekend - and the best part was getting to see some people I haven't connected with in years!

8. Final summer break shots...

What a good summer it was. :)

Five Months Old!

That last month went by too fast - where did summer break go?? And now, all of a sudden, Camryn's next milestone is that she will be halfway to ONE next month already!

I can remember with Taylor that five months seemed to start a period of development where significant changes happened, and a lot of them were FUN!

At five months old, Taylor rolled over the first time (front to back), and last weekend, Camryn rolled over for the first time! I was SO happy that she did it with me, that I didn't miss it happening when she was at daycare. For quite a bit of time Saturday afternoon, Taylor and I were on our tummies on the floor with Camryn, and Taylor was being such a great big sister - showing Camryn how to roll over (and wanting lots of praise from me each time she did it :)). And then finally Camryn got it - and now she rolls like a pro from her back to her front! Yay! I LOVE that she has started the journey to being mobile on her own - it is so much more exciting for her when she can MOVE!

Here are some other fun five month things....

** Wearing size two diapers, and now moving up to some 9 month sleepers already!

** Sleeping during the night in 3 to 4 hour chunks - yep, at five months old we are up a LOT at night (on average 3 times). This has a lot to do with the fact that she is working on eating bottles at daycare (the first week she only ate one bottle each day during the 9 hours she was there!) and with the lack of feedings during the day, she is making up for it at night!
Full time working + full time feeding (no formula yet) + waking up at night = one tired mama

** Rolling over from back to front (working on the other way)

** Grabbing and chewing on EVERYTHING she can get her hands on

** Had her first cold/croup/cough/fever - that is still lingering a bit. She got hit pretty hard by daycare germs, and it made for a pretty miserable Labor Day weekend. A 30 minute drive north to Petoskey for some Tylenol, a bulb aspirator, and a thermometer at 2:30am was necessary one of the nights. Poor thing. :(

** Makes the best smiles and giggles when she is around Taylor - Camryn just LOVES it when Taylor laughs

** Giggles when I blow raspberries on her tummy

** Gives me the sweetest smiles when I pick her up from daycare - one of the BEST parts of my day

Pictures at five months....

Lots of smiles now during pictures :)

(And for comparison sake, here is Taylor's five month picture!)

Of course Taylor had to be a part of it (notice the smile on Camryn's face :))

Making her way to her tummy

And she made it all the way over! ;-)

Bath time involves lots of splashing now, so the baby tub is now in the actual bath tub instead of next to the sink on the kitchen counter (and she seems quite happy about the change)

This was on Sunday before Labor Day - Camryn did a lot of sleeping - poor little thing did NOT feel well and was running a 103.1 fever in this picture :(

At Urgent Care on Labor Day (check-up, chest x-ray, and a dose of steroids)

But all in all, this little girl is a pretty happy five month old!! We love her SO much!!!

Let's Go Fly a Kite!

While we were up north this weekend, the "end of summer" weather was perfect - bright, sunny skies and warm breezes.
One afternoon, we had the perfect kite flying weather, and my Uncle Scott decided to pull one out of the garage to give it a try.

After my dad and uncle had a turn flying, I wanted to give it a try...

And I definitely dunked it in the water a few times...  luckily Scott was ready to rescue it :o)

Waiting for the kite to be rescued :)

Mem gave it a try, too...

And Taylor, too... she thought it was pretty cool to help steer it!

A perfect summer day activity!
