End of October moments...

1. Camryn came down with her first ear infection (double, actually) just after she turned 6 months. A week and a half ago, after a night of being up every 2 hours,  a fever, and then decreased appetite during the day, along with fussiness, we decided we needed to figure out what was going on. Cam's doc office was booked, urgent care is a bit of a drive, so Camryn and I made the 20 second drive to the e.r. to get things checked out. I was thinking ear infection - but they found nothing! We left with the diagnosis that she was just working through a virus.

The next day I took Camryn to her well-child 6 month appointment, and we found out that she did indeed have a double ear infection - but everything else looked good!

6 month stats (50th percentile across the board):
Weight: 15lbs 12 oz
Length: 25 1/4 in
Head circ.: 42.5 cm

For comparison sake here is where Taylor was at 6 months... (Camryn is a bit smaller than her bigger sister :))
Weight: 17 lbs 1oz
Length: 26.5 in
Head circ.: 43 cm

Because of how Camryn was feeling, and her continuing fever, she got to spend two days home with Dada instead of going to daycare. I was sent these pictures during the day -

"Dada's little co-worker"

2. We may or may not have started watching Christmas movies a bit at our house - a picture of the two little ladies watching "the Grinch"

3. Camryn's favorite new thing is drinking water from a sippy cup - preferably bigger sister's water bottle

4. New toys from Zulily - love discount websites!

5. Two sweet faces

Our little Halloween kitty

6. A little trim! Taylor has not had her hair cut since last May - over a year and a half ago! So we started with baby steps - just cleaning up her ends with a little trim from Aunt Karen. Long wispy ends to begin with -

Taylor did so well - with a little distraction :)

Beautiful girl!

7. Love, love, love watching these two interact :)

November is right around the corner!!

A visit from Uncle Jeff :)

This weekend, Uncle Jeff made the trek up to Michigan to hang out! Some pics from our weekend in B.C.  :o)

Hanging out at the coffee shop (Taylor LOVES bagels!)

More good food - lunch at Schlotzsky's! Sister lovin' :)

Nap time

Tummy time

Play time

Such a serious little face

Eating cereal - Camryn chomped it down!

So thankful to be able to hang out together this weekend!

Happy 6 Month Birthday, Camryn!

Camryn just went down to bed. One of my favorite moments of the day is rocking her before she goes to sleep each night. No phones, no tv, no lights, no distractions...just me and her. And she is just a little round, squishy, snuggly little girl at this stage - a stage which is going by too quickly!

Next week we have Camryn's well-child appointment, and I will be interested to find out how much she weighs. The last two times she was weighed, her weight was plateauing, so I am hopeful that because she is eating better at daycare during the day, that they will say that she continues to be a healthy, growing little girl!

The biggest thing that Camryn has mastered this month is sitting up! She has been doing it for about 2 weeks now - makes her seem like a big girl! It is dangerous though, because Taylor doesn't understand how easily she can tip over, and has problems understanding just how gentle she needs to be with her little sister. One thing we know for sure - Camryn is going to grow up to be a tough little cookie. :o)

Bath time is also a bit more fun now that she can sit up - typically she and Taylor will take a bath together - and when Camryn splashes the water, it sends Taylor into a fit of giggles. :) Sucking on a washcloth is Camryn's favorite thing about bath time.

Turning 6 months old, here's a bit about our littlest girl...

** Sleep is still hit or miss. She is now taking a nap in the evening when we get home from daycare, which seems to help her with sleep at night. Instead of going to bed around 6:30, she can now make it up until about 8 before we put her down. Then she is up 2, 3, sometimes 4 times a night. She actually only got up once one night this week, and that felt so nice. :) On the weekend when we are home, she will take a really good morning, and afternoon nap, and a short one in the evening.

** Wearing size 2 diapers, and 6-9 month clothes - mostly 9 month. I actually spent the morning cleaning out the girls drawers and closet, and switching over to warmer clothes, and for Camryn I moved a lot of her smaller outfits and sleepers out and packed them away - always makes me feel a little sad to think of how fast she is growing!

** Eating every 3-4 hours, also starting solids. We have not been in a rush to move onto that step. Camryn did NOT like rice cereal, but has tolerated oatmeal. I think we are going to try barley next, then start the journey of fruits and veggies!

** Loving things that are crinkly sounding - toys with crinkle spots, plastic bags, wrappers - she is fascinated by it

** Stranger anxiety is becoming more and more present - at daycare her caretakers even say that her demeanor changes when people enter the baby room who aren't typically in there - we know this is normal for her age, and try to just ease her into unfamiliar situations, and for now love on the fact that she really recognizes who her mama and dada are! :o)

** Actually went down with a paci for the first time tonight - she hasn't been a big fan of them so far, so we will see if this is something she picks up like Taylor did (and it took Taylor until she was about 6 months old before she used a paci, too!)

** Becoming much more coordinated with her hands - grabbing toys and passing them between her hands

** Quite the smiley girl, waving her arms up and down when she is excited, laughs and giggles are more frequent now

Sunday night snapshots

It is a Sunday night, tomorrow is a work day, and it is around 9, Camryn was up every 2 hours or so last night between 11 and 6, so my bedtime is quickly approaching, but I wanted to get a few pictures posted from the past week as I try to stay on top of documenting life lately!

1. Sitting up!

Camryn started showing us that she was ready to sit up last weekend, and now (as long as she doesn't reach too far for a toy, or have a big sister try to hug her) she is pretty confident sitting on her own! It is fun for her to have a new perspective of the world while she is playing. :)

2. One content girl...

This may or may not have been Taylor getting comfortable on a huge bean bag at church last Sunday...hanging out with us in the "Room to Move" room during the service. We can watch the service broadcasted on the projector screen, and Taylor has room to play.  (Eventually when we start being able to actually make it to church on time, we will get her back in the routine of going to her e/kids class, but for now, this is a pretty easy option!)

3. Typical weekday morning scene

Taylor eating her waffle, Camryn intently watching her big sister :)

4. Saturday morning scene

Watching cartoons on the TV

5. CHILLY fall weather

Snuggled up for a walk on a Sunday that had no plans....the first day in a while that has happened, and it was exactly what I needed.

6. While I was making dinner, this is what the rest of the family was up to :o)
