We made the decision to expand our family at end of April after seeing pictures of the kittens on the Piper's Palace Facebook page, got to meet them in May, and on June 5 we finally got to take our new family members home!
Jovie and Claus (formerly named Pam and Warlow) were born on March 15. The pandemic, the shut down, the complete change in life as we knew it also sparked a desire to get our first little family pets. We are home all the time, and now seemed like a really good time to take the plunge and see how life would be with two kittens!
We picked them up from their Piper's Palace foster mom at PetSmart, and brought them home - so excited, but I was also pretty nervous! I had never raised little kittens before!
But they are so darn cute. Jovie is a little more shy and reserved, and she had a little eye infection that took a couple weeks to clear up when we first got her. Poor thing. Claus definitely seems like a "bigger brother", super playful and full of energy! We kept them in my bedroom for two days, just to give them a smaller space to acclimate to, then slowly gave them full reign of the house. For the first month or so, we put them in the girl's bathroom for the night, just to know that they were in a smaller space where they couldn't get in any trouble. :) Lots of meowing in the morning to get out and be with us!
