Independence Games - Three Rivers CrossFit competition

I have to throw in a post about this partner competition that my friend Katie and I did together, because it was a fun, unexpected day! Our team name was the "Swole Sisters". :) When we started driving down to Three Rivers, it rained more the further south we got. At first we were really bummed about this, because it looked like it was going to rain all day, but...it actually worked to our advantage.

The CFLE crew that was competing....

Before the competition started, they announced that changes were going to be made because of the weather. We were supposed to have atlas stone carries, tire flipping, and keg tosses as a part of an outdoor WOD, and they cancelled it for a rowing and wall balls workout indoors. Two activities that we practice a LOT more often! :)

We did this competition last year together, and it is an interesting one because it involves swimming. The first workout started at the pool. This picture captured us warming up.

We got third in the pool workout that involved us swimming 400m total and doing 80 hand-release push-ups on deck. :)

The second workout involved sandbag cleans, over-the-shoulder med ball cleans, sandbag squats, and kb swings, and we got third in that workout.

The new "side workout" had a three minute timer set, and it was 90 seconds max row, then jump off and the remainder of the time we had to get as many wall balls as possible. Katie and I got first with the highest number of meters rowed!

The third workout was a deadlift/power clean workout for 12 minutes. It was pretty brutal - we got 4th for the first 6 minute score, and 7th for the last 6 minute score.

The fourth and final workout was running, thrusters and toes to bar, and we got third!

After all the workouts were finished, it looked like - with the running scoreboard - that we might have actually placed on the podium - and sure enough, we got third!!

We were just slightly excited. :)

It was a fun day with a friend that I LOVE working out and competing with!!

Trip up north - Father's Day Weekend

Right after the Whitecaps game on a Thursday night, we headed straight up north from there! We arrived after 11:30pm, and Taylor slept, but Cam didn't sleep a wink. :)

Despite a late night, they were both ready to be up at the regular time the next morning! :)

Friday morning, we were looking to burn some energy while the lake was still warming up, so we headed for a walk up to the driving range. Big open spaces for running. :) But Taylor ended up grabbing one of the flags and got a bunch of fiberglass stuck in her hand, so it didn't last long.

We headed into Boyne City for lunch and to get some cream for Tay's hand.
Subway - using gift cards that I got for teacher gifts! :)

The afternoon consisted mostly of napping and playing on the beach outside.

Taylor could be outside in the sand for hours. :)

I snuck off for a bit late afternoon to check out Crossfit Charlevoix and drop in for a workout! It happened to be a class of all ladies, and was a great workout!

After dinner that night, we headed into Boyne City by boat for the Friday night "stroll the streets" activities.

Ice cream

And balloon creations :)

Saturday morning, dad and I went for a bike ride, then headed to Charlevoix by boat.
A few lovies came with us on the drive this time - "Puppy" and "Rainbow Dash"

Looking cute downtown :)

A friend of dad's was playing around with a kite cam, and caught this image of us leaving Round Lake - pretty cool!!

Cam pretty much cashed out on the ride home.... eyes closed :)

That night we built a fire and had some s'mores

And caught a few shots of the girls, practically glowing, in their neon sweatshirts.

And, Taylor and Camryn, when you look at these pictures when you are older, here is a little reminder of how cooperative you are for pictures sometimes. ;) Silly, ladies... :)
