Snow Day (and a bit of reminiscing)

Snow day number five happened this past week. Tuesday we had a tricky combination of ice, snow, and wind that changed a 2 hour delay into a cancelled day of school.

When it was just Taylor and I at home during snow days the past two years, it was usually a pretty low-key day of just the two of us hanging out. Now, with both girls, snow days can be pretty busy! With making a different breakfast and lunch for each girl, having not entirely coordinated nap times, having one who wants to read and the other who wants to just gnaw on the book - it is a bit less relaxing, but it can also be way more fun in so many ways.

I captured a few shots of Camryn looking out the window at the snow - reminiscent of when Taylor used to like watching out the front window when she was little.

Pictures of Taylor
Memories of Taylor at that age come flooding back when I look at pictures like those :o)

And I just had to capture this perspective...
While a zoomed in picture may capture the simplicity of a little one looking out the window..

If you zoom out a bit farther, you get to see the chaos created on the family room floor when we are all home playing together :)

We may be over our limit for snow days this year, but no matter the consequences of a day off, I am rarely disappointed about the chance to spend a bit more - unexpected - time with these two :)

Final birthday post!

On Taylor's actual birthday, Sunday, we gave her the present from us - a big girl bike!

She was very excited that it was Dora, and we can't wait until it is warm enough to go outside and ride around!

Taylor also got a great birthday cake card to decorate with stickers...

In the afternoon, we met some little friends, Ty and Rowan, for swimming in the splash zone at the aquatic center!

It was a perfect, simple day of celebration!

Valentine's Day 2012

Opening Valentine's from their little friends and teachers at school :o)

Heart pancakes for dinner :o)

And speaking of Valentine's Day and love... a sweet moment of sisterly love

Birthday celebration #2 with special visitors!

Most of my family lives out of town, so we had a lot of people traveling, on a very snowy day, to help celebrate Taylor's birthday for the party with my side of the family!

Uncle Jeff and Aunt Jen made the trek all the way from Ohio. :) We were so happy they could make it!! My grandma also made it from the east side of the state - lots of traveling for one special little girl. :)

Camryn was sleeping when most of the family arrived, and we had to capture our little sleepy-eyed friend when she finally woke up. :)

We had wonderful soup, presents, playtime, and of course - cake. :o)

My dad built a rocking horse as a special gift for Taylor - from a simple layout he found on the internet. It turned out so well and Taylor loved it!

My grandpa even took a ride!

Taylor also got a sweet little Minnie Mouse dress-up outfit - that fits her perfectly!!

It was a fun celebration!
