Taylor is EIGHT!

Taylor reads almost anything. She can build almost any Lego set. She has started taking her own showers. She has weekly homework, and takes responsibility to get it done by the end of the week. Taylor loves creating things, science intrigues her, and she loves reading non-fiction books that are full of facts (like World Record books, True but Weird books, etc.), and jokes are a favorite of hers. White blankie and Tony are still favorites to have at bedtime. She prefers to pick socks that don't match. :)

Taylor is almost up to my shoulder, she is getting so tall. She is curious, and inquisitive, and seeks understanding when she is confused by something. She still prefers to not be pulled into the center of attention when around a group of people. She is in her element one-on-one. She loves playing Mario Kart and Wii with daddy on Sundays, and watching baking shows on the Food Network with me. :)

Flash back to tiny Tay.

Taylor is eight years old now. She has taught me so much about being a parent in the past 8 years, and I look forward to each new age and stage with her. It is truly the ultimate adventure.

Here are the questions I like to ask Taylor each year - and see how her answers change! :D
(Last year's answers are in parentheses :))

Favorite color: aqua (green)

Favorite toy: Legos (same)
Favorite place to go out to eat: Olive Garden (Salt and Pepper)
Favorite animal: tiger (mice and guinea pigs)
Favorite thing to do in the summer: go to the beach (same :))
Favorite holiday: Christmas (same :))
Anything else? Super Rabbit Boy books, Owl Diary books, Tony, white blankie, my birthday

Dislikes
What do you not like to eat? broccoli
What are you scared of? thunder and the dark
What makes you feel frustrated? when Camryn hits me, or I get one of my Legos wrong

What do you want to be when you grow up? work at an aquarium (Veterinarian)

Taylor is doing really well in school, still. She is reading above grade level, she really enjoys chapter books now, and math and science are going well for her. The multi-step story problems are probably the toughest for her! She enjoys the challenges of second grade, and Mrs. Moore is working on helping Taylor with her confidence with speaking with adults (particularly in the area of reading comprehension, which is getting better!). Taylor was actually described as shy during her first parent-teacher conference this year, but it's getting better.

As always, we hope for another happy, healthy year for Taylor, and we are just so excited about her being EIGHT! :D

Taylor's Birthday Day

"Taylor, what would you like to do on your birthday?"

Taylor, "I want to go to the Holland Aquatic Center, and Olive Garden!"

Okay! :)

Bapa came up to visit on Taylor's birthday, on Saturday, and we went swimming together, and then out to dinner! (Oh, and Taylor also created a three-story Lego hospital that was over 800 pieces throughout the day!!).

Bapa's gift to Tay :)

Swimming!

Ryan and Bapa went down the slide!

Tired girls after swimming - heading up to Grandville!

Happy birthday girl :)

End of the night picture of her amazing creation!
(The girls slept well that night. :-))

It was a fun day celebrating her!

Taylor's 8th Birthday Party

We had Taylor's birthday party the day before her birthday. She had a fun day at school, getting to pass out her birthday treats (little bags of her favorite snacks mixed together), and got to be a parent pick-up from school because Mem was in town for her party!

She wanted a Lego party this year. :) We had guessing jars with Legos, a Lego building station, coloring, presents, pizza, and cake! It was so neat to listen to her read all her cards while opening presents, and she was excited to present the prize to the winner of the Lego guessing jar (Grandma Mary :)).

Happy 8th Birthday, Tay!

First Half of February

February starts out as a busy month. We usually have our 100th day of school within the first two weeks, I typically have parent-teacher conferences, there is Valentine's day, and also, Taylor's birthday!

We started off the first weekend of February with Anna's House
