I got up early to go for a run before we would start our day. The girls were excited, though and their little voices were up almost as early as me! They played UNO with Mem in bed while I put my running shoes on. :) Such pretty views with the sunrise....
After I got back, we all put on our suits, sunscreen, packed a few things for the beach, and we headed out for breakfast and beach time!
Caddy's opened at 8am, and we were all ready for food (and coffee tasted wonderful, too!). :)
After eating, we headed right for the beach!
It was a little cloudy to start, but then the sun came out and was gorgeous!
The girls had so much fun digging in the sand, and watching the waves
fill it up. They chased birds, splashed in the shallow water (there were
rip tide warnings all week, so they never went into the water very
far), and each got their first taste of salt water. :) Although I think
it surprised them, as we are all used to the freshwater of Lake
Michigan, they quickly adapted, and just kept playing!
We ate a bit of lunch at the beach
And then decided, after 4 hours, that we should probably take a break from the sun. :)
When we got back to the cottage, we all showered, and got dressed, and decided to take a trip to check out John's Pass Village and Boardwalk, just a little north of where we were. The waitress the night before had given us the number for a "free" island hopper taxi - so we called it up and planned a pick up to take us to the boardwalk.
Little sweeties in their dresses ready for another adventure!
First time in a taxi, and a little excited.
John's Pass was busy! Lots of people, lots of shopping, lots of food, and lots of great views of the water!
We got some custard as soon as we got there, then walked around a bit.
The girls each got a new dress, and we searched for some souvenior key chains for them. In one store, they were being extra silly, dancing around a bit, and knocked a wig off a mannequin. They thought it was really funny!
Little Camryn got a flower headband, too. :)
We checked out the dolphin boat tours, and found that they were all booked, but we bought tickets for the next day. After buying the tickets, we picked a restaurant on the water for dinner. Sculley's had a table right next to the water. We saw lots of birds...and even dolphins! What a cool sight!
We were all pretty tired, so we called up the taxi to head back to the cottage.
Mem gave the girls their own little journal to have on the trip. They were so excited to draw in their new notebooks!
On our walks to the beach, there were lots of fun mailboxes, including one that was designed like a mermaid.
The girls thought it was fun to try to imitate the mailbox. :)
We also saw the Easter Bunny along our walks, too!
We wanted to try to catch the sunset, but unfortunately it was a little cloudy. It didn't stop the girls from enjoying looking for some more seashells!
Back at home, we did our nightly reading of Little House on the Prairie before bed, and then it was lights out for everyone, before it was even 9pm! :)
