Cam's Little Ears... round 3

This little girl's ears...they keep us on our toes! Months of ear infections led to the decision to put in tubes when she was just about 11 months old.

6 months later that first set fell out, and problems started again. Almost 3 years ago, just before Christmas, she got her second set of tubes.

The second set stayed in - but too long. Today, we went in for a third time to get them taken out and put a little paper patch on her ear drums while they heal.

Camryn was pretty upset during her previous ENT appointment, so I knew that going to the hospital was going to be a bit tough. She had the first surgery slot at 7:30, so we were at registration at 6:30am.

Between the "PJ's that she didn't like...the medicine that tasted bad (Tylenol and Versed)...and being anxious about all the nurses checking in...she just kept telling me that she wanted to go home.

But through her anxiety, she remained pretty brave, and barely cried when they wheeled her away (that was tough for me, though!)

It was only about 25 minutes before she was back in the room with us. Dr. Vandermeer checked in and said it all went well, and she hung out in the recovery room for about 10 minutes before they brought her back to us. (So glad to have her back in my arms!)

Gracious...was she unhappy. Disoriented, a bit uncomfortable, and upset for quite a while.
She finally felt better with some of her own clothes on, and we tried having her eat a popsicle and drink a little water. Then she cashed out.

We were given the okay to leave. The poor little kid got sick in the grass in front of the hospital before we got to the car. She was feeling pretty punky.

But home, with all her own blankets and pillow, she finally just slept - for a good hour and a half.

Cozy on the couch with my little girl. Wanted to be by her side.

She woke up feeling much better. :) Only one complaint about ear pain all day, and by the evening, she was acting completely like herself and wanted to have some fun out trick or treating!

We are hoping that she's old enough now that we have grown out of problems with ear infections and have lots of healthy ear days ahead of us - tube-free! :D
