Now that we have hit nine months, I can't help but to think that in a few short months, she will actually be 1! That means 12 more weeks and we will start weaning from a bottle, 12 weeks until she can start trying cow's milk, 12 weeks and she and I will have made it a year with feedings, 12 weeks and I will be wondering where the time went with my little 7 pound 6oz infant. BUT until then, I'm trying to soak up these last "baby" months, and ENJOY what fun a 9 month old can be.
It is sort of interesting to think about the past 9 months - and the 9 months before that! At the beginning of pregnancy, it is easy (well it was for me, no morning sickness or anything :)), you are just excited about the new little one on the way, have lots of fun looking at and buying baby stuff, enjoy "eating for two". :o) Nine months later, life is definitely more difficult, the end of pregnancy is tough, sleeping at night is uncomfortable. Then the your little peanut joins the world and you get to see and hold her. And it is hard at the beginning with all the diapers, feedings, sleepless nights. Then fast forward another 9 months, and life is easier again - more sleep, less diapers, more socialization, more playing. It just seems like a crazy 18 months that leads up this point!
Clapping and crawling have been big this month. Camryn can really MOVE now - speedy little thing - we have to keep our eye on her for sure! And at breakfast this morning, we pretty much cheered and clapped after every bite of oatmeal. :o)
Another thing this past month has been ear infections. I don't know if we have gone more than a 2 week stretch since November, without a visit to the doctor. Right now we are fighting what they are saying is another flair up of her 3rd ear infection (leftover from what she was diagnosed with on Christmas Eve). It is a wait and see game to find out if this round of antibiotics gets rid of it, and if she can stay free of ear infections for the next couple of months, otherwise we will most likely be making a visit to an ENT doctor.
So - Camryn Ann, here is what you have been up to at 9 months old:
* Wearing 12 month clothes and sleepers, size 3 diapers
* You are 18lbs 6oz and 27 inches long (we found this out at your appt on Friday when you were sick) - your actual 9 month well-child appointment is on Tuesday, so we will find out how much you weigh at that point, and what percentile you are in!
* Sleep - at night, you go down around 7:00/7:30pm, and usually get up once sometime after 1am, and then get up for the day around 7:00am. You take two naps, one in the morning, one in the afternoon - your morning nap has been longer than your afternoon nap lately.
* Having milk 4-5 times a day - taking only 2 bottles to daycare now. Eating 3 meals a day - oatmeal and fruit for breakfast, fruit, yogurt, and veggie for lunch, and oatmeal, fruit, veggie (and sometimes meat) for dinner. So far you have not been a fan of strained meats. (And I can hardly blame you - not the most appetizing thing!). You like puffs, yogurt melts, and bits of bread (you really liked a pumpkin/banana bread I made!). Although you like the solids, you are not entirely confident with bits of solid food yet, and we have to watch you closely.
* Lots of crawling, trying to pull up on things, clapping, laughing, giggling, and chewing on everything in sight
* No teeth yet! :)
* You are Taylor's biggest fan, I think. :o) Even though she sometimes pushes you down, takes your toys, and yells at you when you cry in the car (because you are not a big fan of being in the car seat), you just LOVE when Taylor plays with you or is next to you. Taylor wants you to follow her - "come on, Camryn, come on - follow me!" - and you don't quite get the idea yet, but when you do, I think you two will become quite the playmates.
* Your caretakers at daycare, Miss Dawn and Miss Kylie, usually have really nice things to say about how your day went while I was at work, and most of the time they tell me that you are doing so well with all your little buddies in the baby room. Miss Kylie seems to like to snuggle with you, and I have had to scoop you off of her lap - as you are fast asleep snuggled in her arms - a couple of times when I have come to pick you up. :)
* You and Taylor are now sleeping in the same room! We moved you into your crib in Taylor's room right after the new year, and although it was a bit of a rough start, you seem to have warmed up to it! With the extra space in the crib (versus the pack and play that you slept in, in our room), you have figured out that you can sit up in bed, and often if you are up crying at night, it is just because you can't figure out how to lay back down. :o)
LONG post - enough with the writing - now for the cute pictures :o)
Nine months! (Ears seemed to be bothering again this afternoon, so she wasn't a big fan of laying down on her back)
